UAGA
AGE REQUIREMENT RULES
In order to ensure the best possible eligibility requirements and ensure the integrity of UAGA events this spring, we have devised a set of standards that will ensure fair play and competitive balance while not penalizing players that were born during summer months by allowing players to play with their peers. This new release will coincide with additional follow through to ensure teams are playing within the standards set by UPBL to ensure a level playing field at all of our events.
In an effort to control the integrity in Amateur Basketball we will be requiring teams to bring birth certificates and a roster for every eligible player. Below is how we will be handling the challenges on Age ineligible players.
Players who are found to be illegal will be ejected immediately, their team will also be assessed a technical foul.
On a challenge of a player’s age on an opposing team that is not correct your team will loose a time out and are assessed a Technical foul. Only head coaches are allowed to challenge the legitimacy or eligibility of an opposing player. Fans, parents, and assistant coaches are not allowed to make an official challenge. All challenges need to be done before game play. Teams are only allowed to challenge their opponents roster if they have proper documentation with birth certificates.
Caught Offending:
1st Offense is an ejected player and a technical foul assessed as explained above
2nd Offense will result in the head coach being suspended for one tournament
3rd offense will result in the head coach being given a twelve month ban from the UPBL circuit
